The PASSONI NERO frame is produced using a “modular” technique with the joins in carbon fibre and the tubes themselves in carbon fibre made to measure.
These tubes are produced depending on the size requested, so as to optimize the ratio of resistance to weight. This means that each tube has to be made with a mould specially produced ad hoc, in an autoclave, using top quality certified pre-impregnated material. In fact, it would not be possible to produce these tubes of variable thickness using the more economical – and structurally inferior – technology of “wrapping” that is so widely used by Asian manufacturers.

The PASSONI NERO frame is categorically different from all the so-called “wrapped” frames because the pieces are joined subsequently to the tacking of the frame in a template, using the same material (pre-impregnated) used for the tubes themselves. This phase is followed by another cycle of ten hours in the autoclave at a temperature and pressure chosen so as not to generate residual tensions. Again it should be underlined that this constructive process is totally different from those mentioned above for “wrapped” frames, which make with a simple vacuum bag where dry materials and liquid resin are mixed – with very poor results in terms of fibre/resin ratio and a high percentage of dangerous residual air pockets.
The result of our process is a frame “made to measure” with the homogeneity typical of a monocoque frame but without the limitations and size restrictions the latter imposes.
The carbon fibre used is T700HS certified for aeronautical use.

The production process is carried out entirely in Italy, and this obviously goes for the rear cog too, manufactured exclusively for Passoni.
